Plagiarism check

The student body of the University of Art and Design Linz has established a cooperation with the ÖH of the Johannes Kepler University, where students of teaching, media culture and art theories and cultural studies can have their theses checked for plagiarism.

General information

Are you about to finish your studies? Only your thesis still needs to be submitted and checked? If this situation applies to you, then you’ve come to the right place with our plagiarism check. For several years now, the ÖH JKU has been offering you this very special service: checking your thesis for plagiarism and correct citation. So if you are not quite sure whether you have quoted certain passages correctly or changed text passages enough so that they are not considered plagiarism, then we strongly recommend that you take advantage of this free service. The service also extends beyond the vacations!

How does the check work?

The core of this service is checking academic papers for plagiarism. Using professional software combined with a manual check, we will provide you with an assessment of any potential for improvement. We then offer you individual advice with helpful tips for your work.

How do I proceed

The offer to check theses is currently only possible for students of the degree programs Teaching, Media Culture and Art Theories and Cultural Studies, as these students must submit their theses to a plagiarism check by the university. We also ask you to send us your work in PDF or Word format rather than as a scan. There are also some formal guidelines to make our work easier: Please delete the bibliography of your work before you send it to us. This will prevent distorted results from the plagiarism check. Please also name the file as follows:

Surname_1.letter of the type of work, i.e. B(achelorarbeit), D(iplomarbeit) / D(issertation), M(asterarbeit) results in e.g. Steinmayer_B.pdf. You should also make sure that each thesis can only be checked once. It is of course possible to check preliminary versions or parts of your work – but we will then no longer be able to check the final version.

You can then send your work to plagiats-check@oeh.jku.at in accordance with the requirements. You will receive your report in writing by e-mail!
