ÖH Insurance
All students and their underage children are insured against accidents and liability for the entire semester through the ÖH by paying the tuition fee, as EUR 0.70 of the tuition fee is paid to the insurance company. However, if you have not paid your tuition fee in a semester for any reason, you are only insured until the end of the grace period of the following semester (for the winter semester: April 30, for the summer semester: November 30). You are insured as long as your student ID card is still valid.
Liability and accident insurance
If you have to make a claim on the insurance, you have to take care of the damage report etc. yourself, as the ÖH is the policyholder, i.e. the contractual partner of Generali AG, but you as a student are the insured person.
The responsible insurance company is Generali Versicherungs-AG, with which the Austrian National Union of Students (federal representation) has concluded a framework agreement.
Important:
The ÖH insurance is NOT a HEALTH INSURANCE!

What type of damage is covered?
In principle, the insurance covers all loss events in the area of accident and liability insurance that may occur during your studies. The insurance also covers accidents and damage in student residences, USI courses, ÖH events or internships or clinical traineeships that are related to your studies. In addition, travel to and from the above-mentioned buildings, grounds or activities is also included. Incidentally, this also applies to semesters abroad, as your insurance cover extends to the whole world! With the exception of liability claims in the USA, Canada and Australia.
Liability insurance covers up to 1 million euros for property damage and personal injury to third parties. Accident insurance covers 7,500 euros for accident costs, 50,000 euros for permanent disability and 15,000 euros for accidental death. In addition, half of the tuition fees will be reimbursed if you are hospitalized for more than 3 weeks as a result of an accident.
Damage report
If damage occurs, the next step is to report the damage. It is best to include all available documents, evidence, police reports, etc. at this point – this simplifies and shortens the settlement process. You must always include a current confirmation of enrollment. However, always keep a copy of the documents with you, otherwise you will no longer know what you have already sent.
The damage report should be sent by email to:
oeh-versicherung.at@generali.com
In an emergency, there are telephone numbers for reporting claims: Mon – Fri 09:00 – 18:00 and for emergencies 24h
from Austria: 01 515900
from abroad: +43 (1) 204 4400

Payment of a claim
Once the claim has been settled, it is either paid or rejected. To ensure that only justified cases are rejected, the ÖH has written a special clause into the insurance contract. This stipulates that you can contact the ÖH after a – in your opinion unjustified – rejection so that they can discuss your case again with the insurer’s project team.
If you would like to come back to this, write an e-mail to wiref@oeh.ac.at. Your data will of course be treated confidentially!
If you have a question about a settled or outstanding claim, simply contact the e-mail address you received in the initial information or in the payment information.
Insurance confirmation
For semesters abroad or excursions, you often need confirmation of valid accident or liability insurance. The ÖH can issue such a confirmation in German and English on behalf of Generali Versicherungs AG, but requires the following information from you:
1. Name
2. current address
3. matriculation number
4. Name of the educational institution at which you are studying
Simply write an e-mail (subject: confirmation) with this data and a confirmation of the ÖH fee paid to studierendenversicherung@oeh.ac.at. The document will be sent to you as soon as possible.
Please note: There is no insurance cover for liability claims in the USA, Canada and Australia.
