Tenants' association

The students‘ union of the University of Art and Design Linz has established a cooperation with the tenants‘ association, where students can get in touch about housing, studio, rental and housing law problems.
General information
The tenants‘ association represents the interests of tenants – and gives you the opportunity to ask questions about tenancy agreements, problems with your landlord, excessive rents, etc. The tenants‘ association holds its consultation hours online in cooperation with us.
The activities of the tenants‘ association are financed by the contributions of its members. The Austrian Tenants‘ Association is a non-profit organization. They do not keep a percentage of your recovered money, but conduct proceedings exclusively in our interest.
How do I proceed
Send your problems and questions to our secretariat together with your documents, e.g. rental agreement, proof of payment, description of the problem, etc. and the ÖH will contact the tenants‘ association. We also need your e-mail address, matriculation number and telephone number so that we or the tenants‘ association can contact you without any problems. We will put you and your concerns in contact with the tenants‘ association. Together we will try to process your request and find a suitable solution.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the tenants‘ association vary, but here are a few examples of when you can get in touch:
1. Reviewing rental agreements
2. Review of operating and heating cost statements
3. Reclaiming excessive rents, operating and heating costs, prohibited redemptions and unjustly withheld deposits
4. Review of estate agent fees and commissions
5. Advice on rent increases
6. Free representation at the arbitration board and the district courts in non-contentious proceedings through all instances.
